Help Boston

Friend --

It's a calm, quiet day in Boston today. It's difficult to believe that such horror filled our streets only a week ago.

Two times, bombs rocked the streets of Copley Square. Three lives were taken that day, and a law enforcement officer was killed just three days later. More than 260 people were wounded, many of whom remain hospitalized with amputations and other scars of tragedy.

I've heard from folks across the country, asking what they can do to help. Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have formed a fund to help the people most affected by these tragic events.

If you're looking for a way to help, please consider making a donation to The One Fund Boston today.

During the Boston Marathon, everyone in our city cheers for each other. We help each other across the finish line. When terror struck, we acted as a family. Throughout the chaos, courageous people ran toward danger to help strangers in need.

Now we cry together. We pray together. We help each other.

No one can replace what we've lost here in Boston. But today, and in the weeks and months ahead, we'll get through it together -- through sorrow and anger, rehabilitation and recovery. That's what families do.

The OFA family knows how to work together to accomplish amazing things. Let's make a difference for the Boston Marathon victims.

Your donation will directly help the families who need it most.

Please make a donation now to The One Fund Boston:

From West, Texas to Watertown, Massachusetts, we remember and honor the men, women, and children we lost last week. We help those whose lives will never be the same. And we thank our first responders, medical professionals, law enforcement officers, and National Guard for their heroic work.

I'm very proud of the people of Massachusetts for their strength, resolve, and courage. Bostonians are tough.

We are fighters -- and we cannot be broken.

No matter where you live, thank you for being with us in our time of crisis and our time of healing. We run together.

Glenn Beck Gives Government Until Monday to Come Clean About Boston Bomb...

[pictures] Boston bombings: timeline of marathon attack and capture of bombers

The main developments since the double marathon bombing in Boston that left three dead and around 180 wounded and the hunt for the two Tsarnaev brothers leading to one killed and the other captured.

– MONDAY, APRIL 15: Two bombs explode near the finish line of the Boston marathon, killing three and wounding nearly 180. US President Barack Obama says he did not know who was behind the attacks and ordered his administration to do whatever was necessary.

– TUESDAY, APRIL 16: Doctors said the victims of the bombings were peppered with pellets, shrapnel and nails. The FBI said there had been no claims of responsibility, and investigators were considering a wide range of suspects.

Obama brands the bombings an act of terror and "a heinous and cowardly act."

A letter addressed to Obama tests positive for the deadly poison ricin, according to the FBI, but authorities deny any links to the Boston attacks.

– WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17: US authorities deny media reports that an individual has been arrested in connection to the bombings, but police said they had images of a suspect from surveillance video and still images taken around the finish line at the time of the blasts.

– THURSDAY, APRIL 18: Obama attends a special interfaith service at a Boston cathedral with victims, rescuers, and city and state leaders. He vows a relentless hunt for those who killed Martin Richard, 8; Krystle Campbell, 29; and Lu Lingzi, a 23-year-old Chinese national, saying "we will find you". The FBI releases pictures and video of two men suspected of involvement in the attacks, appealing to the public to help identify them.

In the evening, a campus police officer is shot dead at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a shoot-out erupts with the suspected perpetrators of the attacks. Another police officer is injured.

– FRIDAY, APRIL 19: One of the two Boston bombing suspects is killed after a shoot-out with police, in the Boston suburb of Watertown.

He is identified as 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, an ethnic Chechen.

A major manhunt is launched to find his brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, during which all public transport in Boston is brought to a standstill, schools are closed and residents told to keep their doors closed. Shortly after 7.30pm (0030 GMT Saturday), Boston Police say Dzhokhar is in custody following a stand-off at a house in the city's suburbs. People in the area greet the news with loud cheers and applause.

"CAPTURED!!! The hunt is over. The search is done. The terror is over. And justice has won. Suspect in custody," Boston Police tweeted shortly after the initial announcement.

Boston police chief Ed Davis says Dzhokhar is in hospital in serious condition. He was captured thanks to a tip from a local resident who found the suspect in a boat in a backyard "covered in blood". Obama says: "We will determine what happened. We will investigate any associations that these terrorists may have had. And we'll continue to do whatever we have to do to keep our people safe."

After a very long night, it seems the identities of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers have been revealed.

NBC News is reporting the two men are brothers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The brothers are from Chechnya, Russia and have been in the U.S. since 2001, according to their uncle.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, is still on the run, while his older brother, Tamerlan, 26, was killed earlier this morning during a shoot-out with Boston PD. Dzhokhar is a student at UMASS Dartmouth and was seen there this week after the bombings according to WCVB.

The father of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Anzor Tsarnaev, says his son is an “accomplished medical student” and “a true angel”, AP reports. He spoke to the news agency from the city of Makhachkala, capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan, shortly after police said his other son, 26-year-old Tamerlan, had been killed in a shootout.

One of the brothers is said to have a Massachusetts drivers’ license, an NBC report claims. The brothers’ uncle has confirmed to AP that the men lived together near Boston. Some reports say the two may have arrived in the US from Turkey and have Turkish citizenship.

And, in case you missed it, here is an easy-to-digest timeline of what happened overnight:

A gruesome photo of Tamerlan's corpse has surfaced showing his body riddled with bullet holes. There is a huge gash in the ribcage area, possibly from the explosions and his face is covered in blood.
